An avalanche of sweets at Ladurée this year for Valentine’s Day 2023. Ladurée celebrates the lovers’ day, through one of the most commonly used marks of affection by the French to address a person for whom they have a lot of affection, whether it is their lover, a relative, a friend… “Mon chou”.
This colloquial term, a typically French expression devoid of any sexual connotation, fits like a glove to the pastry house known worldwide for its creations made from… choux pastry.
For Valentine’s Day 2023, Maison Ladurée is pampering you with lots of exclusive creations. The first of them is its inimitable green box which has been specially redesigned for the occasion. The golden motif, usually stamped on the lid of the box, has been entirely redesigned by hand. The delicate friezes of the pastry house are accompanied by a cabbage struck with a golden arrow, symbol of love.
It can accommodate 8 macarons (€25) or 12 macarons (€37) – macarons with emblematic flavors that have made the House’s reputation or those created exclusively for this holiday, such as the one printed with an “Je t’aime” (€3.30/unit – available from February 10 to 14), or the Melilot flower passion macarons.
An exclusive creation, only available from January 11 to March 21 – in heart shape, only from February 1 to 15 (€3.30/unit), in classic shape (€2.50/unit) – Chef Julien Alvarez’s Mélilot passion macarons hide, under their pearly red macaron shell, a passion and Mélilot flower filling.
Those who have a strong penchant for pastries can offer their better half the Ladurée Valentine’s Day nun (14 €/unit). Adorned with a love-colored dress, these delicious choux pastries hide a surprising passion fruit and mango insert in their hearts. A chantilly with melilot flower brings sweetness and greediness to this tangy combination.
Two other gourmet creations complete the collection: the heart-shaped Ladurée brioche, topped with generous slivers of pink pralines (€10/unit – available from February 10 to 14), or the French toast-style pan-fried brioche. Available only in Ladurée restaurants from February 10 to 14, the latter is topped with a mango compote, vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. The whole thing is sprinkled with slivers of passion fruit macaron shells, adding crunch and sweetness. Finally, a passion fruit juice is delicately poured at the time of service for a unique experience for two.
