After a successful second drop in May 2021, the iconoclastic American designer Rick Owens and Dr. Martens have come together again for a new collaboration, this time around the Dr. Martens’s 1460 8-eye and 1918 18-eye boots.
Taking the two classic Dr. Martens silhouettes: the 1918 18-eye boot and the 1460 8-eye boot – the latter was already highlighted in the second drop – Rick Owens injects again his unorthodox aesthetic with a punk and primitive touch that makes the success of his brand.
Thus, the signature pentagram lacing, in reference to Rick Owens’ dark-glam DNA, already used on the 1460 Bex in the last collaboration, returns this time on the 1460 8- eye. The boot also features matte silver hooks and eyelets for easy lacing, yellow stitching, a heavy closure on the inside of the ankle, and a black, beaded heel loop.
The 1918 18-eye boot is revisited with long beaded laces secured with matte silver hooks and eyes, a heavy zipper along the outside of the boot, a black and beaded heel loop and the iconic Dr. Martens yellow stitching.
Both boots are set on a chunky two-inch (5.08 centimeter) Quad Retro sole and are made of textured black Lunax leather, a soft material that contrasts with the boots’ vertical structure.
