Almost two years after joining Li-Ning, Miami Heat superstar Jimmy Butler finally got his very first signature shoe from the Chinese outfitter: the Li-Ning JB1.
In November 2022, the American player, surprised everyone by announcing his signing of a multi-year shoe deal with the sportswear brand Li-Ning, 11 months after ending his partnership with Jordan Brand. The Miami Heat forward joined his former teammate Dwyane Wade, also under contract with Li-Ning.
After a long wait, Jimmy Butler’s first signature shoe has finally seen the light of day: the Li-Ning JB1, in the colors of his team, the Miami Heat.
First seen at the Miami Heat’s season debut against the Chicago Bulls last Wednesday, the Li-Ning JB1 is inspired by Butler’s predatory instincts on the court, suggested by the trio of fang-shaped midsole fronts. Constructed from durable fiber, the “Tough” colorway – the colorway’s name is a nod to his perseverance, strength and tenacity in leading his team to victories – covers its upper in a black and orange duo – the color changes depending on the angle of view – while its carbon fiber plate, located on the outside of the shoe and between the upper and midsole, renders a bright gradient of yellow, purple and orange. The Li-Ning logo on the inner side is dressed up with an orange gradient logo. An outsole with the new Honeycomb Cellular LOC grippy technology, in a honeycomb structure to replace traditional rubber to significantly reduce weight and improve grip, completes the design.
