As G-SHOCK marks its 40th anniversary, the brand has unveiled a triumphant trio of new releases, showcasing exclusive renditions of the first-ever G-SHOCK model.
With a fusion of cutting-edge materials and pioneering finishes, these timepieces stand as a testament to the brand’s dedication to continuous innovation and uncompromising durability.
For the first time in G-SHOCK‘s history, the brand has combined stainless steel recrystallization and deep-layer hardening technologies to create watch designs that surpass expectations in both durability and aesthetics. This revolutionary approach has produced two remarkable stainless steel models: the GMW-B5000PS and GMW-B5000PG. Priced at €869 each, these timepieces benefit from advanced reinforcement techniques that make them more resilient than ever before.
The innovative processes of stainless steel recrystallization and deep-layer hardening have resulted in a strikingly original and captivating exterior design. These techniques involve heat-treating and recrystallizing stainless steel to create unique crystalline patterns on a matte texture, reminiscent of fine metal fragments scattered across the surface. This results in subtle variations in pattern, color, and shine, making each watch truly one of a kind.
Furthermore, deep-layer hardening technology infuses carbon into the steel surface, creating a hardened layer that is three times stronger than traditional stainless steel. Unlike conventional coatings, this process enhances resistance by hardening the material itself.
Both the GMW-B5000PS and GMW-B5000PG models feature design elements that honor the brand’s 40-year history. The 40th-anniversary logo is engraved on the case back, while the mention “SINCE 1983” appears in the bottom left corner of the dial. Four stars, symbolizing the four decades of G-SHOCK, are engraved on the strap loop, with an additional star found on the Mode button located in the bottom left corner of the case.
In addition to these cutting-edge models, G-SHOCK has also introduced the DW-5040PG, a near-identical reissue of the original 1983 model, priced at €299. This timepiece retains all the features of its predecessor while incorporating Casio’s latest expertise. The deep-layer hardening process is applied to the case back, strap buckle, and other metal components, while bio-sourced resin is used for the case and strap. The watch also bears the mention “PROJECT TEAM Tough” on the dial, acknowledging the dedicated team that brought the G-SHOCK concept to life.
