ETRO has once again taken a bold step forward with its Fall/Winter 2023 campaign, showcasing a blend of heritage and innovation. Set against the rugged, natural backdrop of Inverness, Scotland, the campaign harmoniously blends ETRO’s traditional aesthetic with a fresh, modern approach under the creative direction of Marco De Vincenzo.
Featuring models Nathaniël Ortiz and Sun Mizrahi, the campaign captures a serene yet dynamic interplay with nature, particularly water, symbolising a blend of tranquillity and subtle disruption. The campaign’s imagery, created by photographer Zhong Lin, is both dreamlike and slightly unsettling, reflecting the themes of the collection.
De Vincenzo’s work for the Fall 2023 collection represents a deep dive into ETRO’s rich archives. His exploration marks a significant shift from the structured, geometric patterns of his previous collection to a more fluid and bohemian style that resonates with ETRO’s core values of heritage pattern mixing. This evolution illustrates a conscious effort to preserve and reinterpret ETRO’s storied heritage in a contemporary context.

“I feel like an archaeologist who has to confront the past while bringing its findings to the light of today,” says De Vincenzo, reflecting his mission to fuse ETRO’s historical richness with contemporary sensibilities. This journey into ETRO’s past has led to a new appreciation and use of light, airy materials such as georgette in the collection. De Vincenzo expressed his enchantment with the material, a new venture for him, and emphasised the ethereal quality of the fabric.
The campaign, aptly titled “Radical ETRO,” is a testament to the brand’s enduring relevance and adaptability. De Vincenzo’s commitment to ETRO’s heritage, combined with his own unique vision, positions ETRO at the forefront of the current fashion moment, especially in light of the industry’s changing dynamics, such as GUCCI’s new design direction.
