For sneaker aficionados, the news doesn’t get much bigger than this. Hot on the heels of the Nike Air Max 1’s triumphant return with its original large Air unit, Nike has announced plans to bless the beloved Air Max 180 “Ultramarine” with the same “Big Bubble” treatment in 2024.
The “Ultramarine” Air Max 180, first introduced in 1991, is an undeniable icon. Its striking colorway and innovative design cemented its place in sneaker history. The shoe’s fame transcended the realm of running shoes when basketball legend Michael Jordan sported the similar “Concord” colorway during a Dream Team photo shoot for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
This upcoming iteration of the “Ultramarine” Air Max 180 stays true to its heritage. A crisp white upper, constructed from a premium blend of mesh, suede, and leather, provides a clean canvas for the vibrant “Solar Red” and “Ultramarine” accents. But the defining feature of this 2024 edition is undoubtedly the enlarged Air unit. This upgrade enhances the shoe’s signature 180-degree visible Air technology, offering a fresh take on a classic design element.
Slated for a May 2024 release at a retail price of $150, the Nike Air Max 180 “Ultramarine” with the “Big Bubble” promises to be a hot commodity. While a confirmed release date is still pending, sneaker enthusiasts can expect this highly anticipated shoe to drop on Nike SNKRS and select retailers.
