Inspired by Christian Dior’s passion for nature and flowers, DIOR Men unveils its new DIOR capsule collection CD 1947, celebrating the dialogue between Kim Jones, the house’s Creative Director, and Monsieur Dior’s legacy.
As an extension of the DIOR Men Fall/Winter 2022-2023 collection, unveiled last January at Paris Fashion Week, Kim Jones once again tapped into the soul of Christian Dior and his dreamlike world for his latest capsule collection.
“Thankfully, there are flowers,” Christian Dior, fashion designer, gallerist and architecture enthusiast, once said. “I loved more than anything to learn by heart the names and descriptions of flowers in the color catalogs published by the Vilmorin-Andrieux House,” he wrote in his memoirs. A passion and a special relationship built and maintained in the rose garden of his childhood home in Granville, facing the sea.
And it is precisely this passion for nature and flowers of Mr. Dior that Kim Jones has transposed into these silhouettes mixing elegance and minimalist spirit of DIOR.
The CD 1947 capsule collection includes T-shirts, shirts, hoodies and shorts in a palette of soft and neutral tones, from light blue to beige to Dior’s signature gray. It also includes the Saddle and Dior Lingot 50 bags, as well as a limited edition DIOR gardening set, a subtle tribute to the house founder’s passion for this outdoor activity.
The highlight of the collection is the new collaboration between DIOR and the German brand Birkenstock, reinterpreting the Tokio Mules and Milano Sandals. These two emblematic Birkenstock models are enhanced with flower embroidery on a blue background that evokes the elegance of DIOR.
