TAG Heuer, the Swiss luxury watchmaker renowned for its avant-garde designs, unveiled the TAG Heuer Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph at Watches and Wonders 2024. Available in striking red and classic blue editions, these timepieces showcase the Maison’s mastery of haute horlogerie and its commitment to pushing the boundaries of precision.
The Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph represents a significant milestone in TAG Heuer’s illustrious history of split-seconds chronographs, dating back over a century. From the groundbreaking Mikrograph of 1916 to the iconic reference 11.402 used by Scuderia Ferrari timekeeper Jean Campiche in the 1960s, TAG Heuer has consistently been at the forefront of this horological complication.
Julien Tornare, CEO of TAG Heuer, emphasized the brand’s dedication to innovation: “TAG Heuer has always been committed to pushing the boundaries of timekeeping, and with the introduction of the Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph, we are not only embracing our rich heritage but also redefining the future of Haute Horlogerie d’Avant-Garde.“
The Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph’s lightweight titanium and sapphire crystal construction results in a mere 85-gram timepiece that boasts unparalleled uniqueness. At its heart lies the newly launched TH81-00 mechanical split-seconds chronograph caliber, one of the lightest automatic chronograph movements ever created by TAG Heuer in partnership with Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier.
Carole Forestier-Kasapi, TAG Heuer’s movements director, highlighted the meticulous craftsmanship: “Every component of the watch reflects our passion for horological artistry.” The transparent sapphire crystal caseback offers a mesmerizing view of the intricate TH81-00 caliber, while the oscillating weight, fashioned in TAG Heuer’s iconic shield shape, features a hand-painted gradient in powerful red or blue.
The sapphire crystal dial marries functionality with aesthetics, showcasing the delicate workings beneath while ensuring absolute legibility. The red Monaco’s dial arches feature fine brushing and black DLC-coating, while the blue variant boasts a stunning gradient achieved through a sophisticated anodizing process.
Each individually numbered timepiece comes with a hand-stitched calfskin strap, completing the Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph’s avant-garde appeal. As TAG Heuer continues to redefine precision and push the boundaries of timekeeping.
