Junya Watanabe is a master in collaborations? If we look at the new names added to the already long list, we can believe it!
His list of partnerships has grown again this season, with the addition of the Roy Lichtenstein Foundation, Andy Warhol, Jean Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Coca-Cola, Honda, and Netflix.
His new collection is a patchwork of Pop Americana, transporting certain art and pop culture references onto some of his iconic pieces. He brings together top-notch artworks, such as Andy Warhol’s “Marilyn Monroe” portrait, Keith Haring’s graffiti, Roy Lichtenstein’s “Girl with a Ribbon in Her Hair” or Jean-Michel Basquiat’s skull and crossbones designs, and popular consumer brands and perfect symbols of capitalism and mass consumption like Netflix, Coca-Cola or Honda.
All of these references, old and new, happily assault tracksuits, jackets, mohair cardigans, windbreakers, aviator jackets, and camp shirts, among others, to ultimately result in a wardrobe that is grounded in reality and extremely accessible.
