Shanghai-based designer ZIGGY CHEN’s latest collection, VIGLUMSY, takes inspiration from the Song Dynasty, drawing on the effects of time on books and paintings as visual references and impressions. The collection is characterized by refined and embellished garments featuring new details and techniques never before seen in the designer’s previous collections.
One of the key fabrics used in VIGLUMSY is linen, which is combined with hemp fibers of different thicknesses, wool, cashmere, and high-quality cotton. Additionally, velvet is introduced for the first time in a while, with two fine velveteen fabrics made exclusively for the collection, featuring printed and striped designs.
The collection boasts pieces with torn-up effects, fragmented patterns, and erratic folds, all while maintaining the spirit of Ziggy Chen’s previous collections. The color palette for the collection is inspired by nature, featuring shades of crimson, tan, and the designer’s signature olive green. The graphics in the collection are extensions of past themes, featuring signature printing techniques and different types of stripes.
VIGLUMSY is a collection that showcases Ziggy Chen’s ability to combine traditional techniques and modern aesthetics, resulting in a collection that is both timeless and contemporary.
