Watches and Wonders 2023 - Hublot MP-13

Hublot is once again revolutionizing the world of Haute Horlogerie with the unveiling, at Watches and Wonders 2023 in Geneva, of the MP-13, a masterpiece that combines disruptive design, creativity, and technical prowess. Designed for collectors eager to witness the future of watchmaking, the Hublot MP-13 offers a unique set of features that push the boundaries of timekeeping.

The Hypnotic Bi-Axial Tourbillon

At the heart of the MP-13 lies a bi-axial tourbillon, an accomplishment only a few watchmakers can claim to produce entirely in-house. First seen in the MP-09 in 2017, this tourbillon has two axes, with the first completing a full rotation per minute, and the second finishing in 30 seconds. This dual-speed mechanism creates a mesmerizing, technical display.

Skeletonized and Suspended

To further accentuate the tourbillon’s hypnotic effect, Hublot has incorporated two key design elements: skeletonization and suspension. This approach results in a lighter, more open tourbillon, maximizing the passage of light through each component. Encased in an anti-reflective sapphire crystal at 6 o’clock, the tourbillon becomes the focal point of the watch.

Unprecedented Power Reserve

With a 96-hour power reserve, the MP-13’s bi-axial skeleton tourbillon claims the title of the largest power reserve in its category. Ensuring four days of continuous operation presented a significant challenge, given the energy-intensive nature of the watch’s unique features.

This is the strength of our integrated model. At Hublot, every idea can be expressed almost instantly in a true watchmaking project and give birth to extraordinary creations, eagerly awaited by our collectors who are all at the forefront of watchmaking, like this new MP-13.

Pioneering Bi-Retrograde Display

The Hublot MP-13 introduces a first-of-its-kind bi-retrograde display for both hours and minutes, an innovation that is both energy-consuming and challenging to engineer. The hours are displayed with an instantaneous jump, while the minutes trail, providing optimal readability for daily use. The power reserve indicator is conveniently located at 11 o’clock.

Intuitive and Easy to Adjust

The bi-retrograde movement offers a natural, intuitive reading experience, akin to reading text or following the sun’s path. Hublot has also simplified the adjustment process, with the crown at 3 o’clock offering a single position. Advancing the minutes also progresses the hours, and the movement is designed to only move forward, preventing damage from accidental backward adjustments.
