Valentino, the Italian luxury fashion house, has announced the appointment of Chinese actor Yang Yang as their latest brand ambassador.

This strategic partnership is set to further strengthen Valentino‘s presence in the Chinese market, leveraging Yang’s immense popularity.

Yang Yang, a household name in China, is known for his versatile acting skills and charismatic presence. He first gained widespread recognition in 2010 for his portrayal of Jia Baoyu in the television adaptation of “The Dream of Red Mansions,” a classic of Chinese literature. Since then, his career has been on an upward trajectory, with numerous successful TV series under his belt. His appeal extends beyond the entertainment industry, as he has been the face of several luxury brands, including L’Oréal, CeraVe, dunhill, Bulgari, Chandon, and Coca-Cola.

The announcement of Yang Yang’s ambassadorship coincides with the launch of a new campaign, showcasing Valentino’s pre-fall 2023 collection. The campaign, shot at Valentino’s Rome headquarters, features Yang in various ensembles from the collection, with a particular emphasis on the Rockstud23 handbag.

Pierpaolo Piccioli, the creative director of Valentino, expressed his delight at welcoming Yang to the Valentino community. Yang’s Weibo post announcing the partnership received over 1 million shares, 300,000 likes, and 72,000 comments in less than a day, a testament to his popularity among his 56 million followers.

Yang joins the ranks of other prominent Valentino ambassadors in the region, including actress Sun Li, Guan Xiaotong, actor Lay Zhang, and singer Li Ronghao. This move signifies Valentino’s commitment to engaging with its Chinese audience and its recognition of the influence of entertainment figures in the fashion industry.
