Trussardi Fall 2023 was a collection that celebrated the essence of Milanese style, showcasing the brand’s iconic puffer jackets and distressed leather pieces, modernized through the creative vision of designers Serhat Işık and Benjamin A. Huseby. The presentation was held inside the newly renovated Trussardi flagship store, located next to the iconic Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the city known for its practical yet elegant attire and timeless fashion.
The collection was an ode to the Milanese style that made Trussardi prominent in the 1970s and 1990s. The designers started with the brand’s signature puffer jacket, taking it to the extreme with XXL sizes and luxurious padding. Distressed leather was used for both men’s and women’s skirts, while duchesse silk and nylon were utilized to imitate leather on classic blouses and skirts with diagonal zippers. The color palette was a nod to the classic Milanese style, featuring black, hazel, ecru, and bordeaux, with a touch of jacquard for a touch of elegance.
The designers played with the classic Milanese clichés, using them as a key to unlocking the brand’s story, rather than mocking them. The final look was a contemporary take on the Trussardi look for a Teatro alla Scala premiere, featuring a mermaid skirt paired with a jewel belt and a sober turtleneck, all in black. This collection was a tribute to the industrious and timeless quality of the Milanese fashion and their love for their city.
