Music icon Travis Scott and tennis legend John McEnroe have teamed up to breathe new life into a classic Nike silhouette. The duo is set to reintroduce the iconic Nike Mac Attack, a shoe that carries a rich history in the world of sports and fashion.
Earlier this year, Nike announced its plans to revive the Mac Attack, a shoe famously associated with John McEnroe. The initial release featured the original “Light Smoke Grey” colorway, which was followed by a series of collaborative teasers. Among these was a social media post by PJ Tucker, revealing that Social Status was working on four unique tear-away versions of the Mac Attack.
The collaboration took an exciting turn when Travis Scott was spotted performing at the Miami Grand Prix in a pair of Mac Attacks, complete with a reverse Swoosh. This sparked speculation about whether this was a hint at an upcoming release or an exclusive design for the rapper.
The anticipation was finally addressed when Nike released a short video featuring Travis Scott and John McEnroe, hinting at the imminent return of the design. The campaign imagery showcased Scott and McEnroe sporting the OG Mac Attack look, with Scott also seen preparing a backhand stroke in Utopia-themed Cactus Jack x Nike shorts.
The official launch of the campaign is expected to take place later this month, with rumors suggesting that the Nike Mac Attack OG colorway will hit the shelves on June 23. The shoes will be available on Nike’s official website and select retailers, including HBX.
