A year after his appointment, Bryan Conway paid a moving tribute to fashion in his Spring/Summer 2024 collection from Tiger of Sweden, where memories breathed life into his creations and classic tailoring met an unexpected twist of heart motifs, reflecting the designer’s fond reminiscences from his Burberry internship days.
For Conway, inspiration for this collection stirred from the past, plucking strings from his fashion memory lane, back to the final Burberry show in Milan in 2013. It was a sentimental reunion of the past and present, “The last seven or eight looks were all love hearts,” he recalled. Conway, true to his sentimental nature, sewed these heartfelt moments into his recent collection, striking a nostalgic note.
Known for his ability to elegantly merge tradition with the fresh and new, Conway did not disappoint. Unearthing treasures from Tiger’s rich archives, he struck gold by reviving the denim line that had primarily existed under the ‘Tiger of Sweden Jeans’ since 2001. Today, under his creative wing, denim is finding a new home, cozying up with other design lines.
His teenage years, colored by an “indie” phase, found expression in the form of skinny denim jeans and shorts, bearing his signature triple-stitching method. The outcome? A sleek, streamlined look that pays homage to the youthful, rebellious Conway of yore. And to add to that, the washed finish of these pieces artistically hints at an adventurous romp through the fields, a tribute to the natural beauty of Stockholm, where the lookbook was shot.
A Tiger collection, without doubt, hangs incomplete without its quintessential tailored pieces. This year, Conway stirred the pot of tradition, taking Tiger’s bestselling suits, literally flipping them inside out and making them from tonic lining fabric. A bold move that translated into an enchanting metallic effect in photographs, and a holographic wonder in person.
It’s in this interesting juxtaposition that Conway found his ground, “Tailoring is obviously the most important part of Tiger, but it’s also about not being too serious.” With these words, Conway underlines the magic that his collection brought to life. A blend of the old and new, past and present, creating a vibrant celebration of fashion, nostalgia, and innovation.
