With an eclectic fusion of denim, pop aesthetics, and utility, Diesel takes the catwalk to the masses, blurring gender lines and fostering individual expression.
Glenn Martens, Diesel’s creative director, has brought forth an assortment of pieces that mirror the runway’s daring ethos, yet remain impressively approachable. “Diesel communicates with a diverse audience in various languages. This collection encapsulates that spirit, offering ultra-attractive pieces that balance between experimental and wearable. Essentially, it’s like taking the runway and making it more democratic, more accessible,” Martens explains.
The Diesel Resort 2024 collection blends ordinary with extraordinary, transforming jersey sweatshirts, sweatpants, and knit dresses into glamorous pieces through metallic and reflective treatments. The brand’s innovative approach to colored denim, such as a radiant pair of yellow jeans, further showcases Diesel’s exploratory spirit. Velvet-flocked gold denim undergoes distressing, revealing the metallic gold beneath, a testament to Diesel’s mastery of material manipulation.
The collection extends its homage to Diesel‘s DNA with iconic washes and treatments, biker-style denim, and track denims – a Diesel signature – with a heavy boucle weft on the reverse side, reminiscent of cozy track pants. The commitment to responsible fashion remains a core pillar, with approximately 70% of the Resort 2024 denim range manufactured using sustainable materials and processes.
The collection’s jackets cleverly mix fabrics, such as a zip-up jacket combining leather and denim, or a softly tailored jacket pairing cool wool with acetate. Meanwhile, Diesel’s logo knits and beanies, created from double-layered intarsia, feature raw-cut and washed branding that purposefully curls at the edges.
Diesel Resort 2024 also introduces a range of distinctive dresses. The collection includes pop black dresses held by Diesel charms that declare “for successful living,” metallic spaghetti strap dresses draped by a micro D, and denim dresses adorned with lace trims. Furthermore, men’s jersey pieces are ingeniously transformed into halter neck dresses, and stretch denim dresses are coated in micro paillettes.
Utility meets fluidity in this collection with baggy cargo pants cut with banana-shaped legs, ultra-wide track pants, and a sheer utility skirt printed with a sinuous camouflage pattern. The same camouflage graces zip-up utility jackets, hoodies, and cargo pants, while a print of metal fences juxtaposed with tropical flowers adorns chiffon dresses, jerseys, and shorts.
Maintaining the spirit of runway experimentation, Diesel’s pre-collection reveals multiple layers of jersey, cut away and left raw, like a little cut away dress, or hoodies and T-shirts cut to reveal their layers. Knitwear pieces and chunky crew neck sweaters showcase the knit beneath a cutaway jersey layer, a new development from the runway.
Continuing the trend of logo experimentation, Diesel Resort 2024 presents jersey dresses with branded patches, painted over to create an optic white-out effect. Parts of the patch logo jersey pieces are intentionally left out for a ghost effect, while Diesel logos are printed on top of each other on hoodies and bandeau tops.
A notable addition to the collection is denim clogs – available in high and low heels and wearable across genders – along with denim mules with pockets, and denim-covered biker boots.
The accessory range of the collection is equally compelling. The Grab-D bag, with its curved metallic D maintaining its slouchy shape, was first seen on the runway. The structured D Play bag is cut from PU leather, while the D-Vina bag appears in reflective-coated coloured denim. The 1DR bag in ultra-matt black or white adds a minimalist touch. Complementing the collection’s flair for utility, fanny packs are adorned with charming Diesel charms, adding a sweet twist to their practical design.
Shoes also get their due attention, with denim clogs making their entrance in both high and low heels. These clogs, an exciting innovation, are designed to be worn by all genders. Furthermore, high heel denim mules come equipped with pockets, and denim-covered biker boots showcase an intriguing mix of toughness and style, a design straight from the latest runway show.
