SYSTEM STUDIOS is back on the official Paris calendar, with an offline presentation after three years of digital shows due to the emergence of COVID-19. The collection, titled “Returning Legacy,” will highlight the brand’s unique heritage and its path forward as a global brand, solidifying its position in the fashion market.
The 2023 F/W collection was inspired by the essay River of Shadows about the life of British photographer Eadweard Muybridge, specifically his work “The Horse in Motion.” Designer Heesoo Kim reinterpreted classic pieces with a modern, dynamic touch, drawing inspiration from horseback riding in both medieval and Western styles. The collection featured high collars, capes, boots, and duster coats, as well as unexpected twists and playful proportion play on blazers, crop tops, and voluminous capes.
Kim aimed to strike a balance between costume and wearability, with standouts such as sweatshirts with cascading hems, double-wrap skirts, and giant puffy handbags. After the presentation, Kim emphasized the collection’s commercial success, stating, “We want to accelerate step-by-step.”
An official from Handsome, the South Korean group that owns SYSTEM STUDIOS, expressed excitement about the offline presentation at Paris Fashion Week, saying, “We are tapping into overseas markets in various ways, including through the unveiling of our collection, so we hope you will continue to show interest in, look forward to, and support our next steps.“
