The Swatch x Matthias Dandois collaboration captures the spirit of both the renowned athlete and the innovative watch brand, offering an exclusive, limited-edition timepiece.
Swatch, a brand synonymous with creativity and bold design, has once again pushed the boundaries by partnering with Matthias Dandois, a dominant force in the world of BMX flat. This collaboration has resulted in the striking BIG BOLD watch, a testament to the French athlete’s unique style, which draws inspiration from the numerous tattoos that grace his body.
The collaboration coincides with the launch of Redbull’s “Time Machine,” an awe-inspiring video project created in partnership with Swatch, featuring Dandois performing gravity-defying stunts in a 16-meter diameter park designed in the shape of a BIG BOLD watch case. This larger-than-life concept celebrates the longevity of Dandois’ career, as he sets his sights on his 10th world title.
Dandois, who is also a member of the Swatch Proteam, shared his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “The watch is inspired by the project and my tattoos. My tattoos are also the passing of time because they were made at different moments in my career. It’s really all about time!“
The limited-edition YELLOW INK model features a bold 47mm diameter black case, complemented by a sky blue crown at 2 o’clock. The transparent dial showcases yellow indices and black phosphorescent hands, revealing a striking yellow mechanism beneath. The watch’s black strap is adorned with yellow animal patterns and the inscription “Dent Doigt” in sky blue. The quartz timepiece also has two black loops, one with a tire pattern and the other printed with the message “Hello” in sky blue.
For those unfamiliar with Matthias Dandois, the French athlete boasts an impressive resume, holding nine BMX Flat World Champion titles and ranking among the 50 most influential personalities in the world of extreme sports according to ESPN’s 2013 list. At just 12 years old, Dandois discovered his passion for BMX, using the sport as a creative outlet and a way to push his limits. His journey began on the streets, training with ramps, stairs, and sidewalks, eventually leading him to conquer the flat discipline and inspire his peers.
