Fans of Goku, Cell, Frieza, Buu, Gohan, Vegeta, Shenron or Kamesennin, get ready to slip into the skin of your hero with the new Swatch x Dragon Ball Z collab that lands on our planet, celebrating the most famous characters of the franchise.
Pokemon, Sailor Moon, One Piece or Dragon Ball, these mangas are now part of popular culture, triggering, at the mention of their name, our imagination, our passion but also our thirst to buy anything related to their universe.
Brands in all fields have understood this, like Swatch, which has just released a collection of watches dedicated to the most famous characters in Akira Toriyama’s work.
The collection includes eight models, each dedicated to a character from the franchise. Each watch features two sides of the same character, one on the front and one on the back. The names of the characters are shown in English and Japanese on the first band and the Dragon Ball Z logo is printed on the second.
GOKU
Goku
is the big-hearted hero of the Dragon Ball Z series. As one of the last Saiyans, he is Earth’s greatest defender against intergalactic threats.
The orange and black BIG BOLD watch is inspired by Goku’s costume. The dial features the Japanese symbol of Goku’s name, which appears on his dogi, while the back of the strap is decorated with a flying Kinto-un or Nimbus flying.
CELL
Cell is the artificial life form created by Dr. Gero, a former Red Ribbon Army scientist, to take revenge on Goku.
The light green and black BIG BOLD watch expresses the essence of the Cell character. The pink dots on the hands evoke the color of his eyes and the yellow crown represents his facial features. The back of the watchband represents his fearsome black and dark orange tail.
FREEZER
Freezer is the most famous villain of the series. He confronts Goku and his friends in a battle that sees Goku transform into a Super Saiyan.
The GENT watch features two forms of Freezer: white and purple on the The white and purple on the front of the watch and the pink lines on the back are inspired by the villain’s skin, while the red dots resemble his eyes.
BOO
Boo is a villain with many talents, including the ability to turn his opponents into opponents into cookies and absorb their powers.
The GENT Buu watch has a black “M” on its yellow dial in reference to Buu’s golden belt. The underside of the watch, all purple and pink, evokes the larger shape of Buu’s belly.
GOHAN
Gohan is the Goku’s son. He is the first human-Saiyan hybrid born on Earth, who attained the Super Saiyan form at an early age.
The NEW GENT watch features the Kamehameha energy flash and the text “KA-ME-HA-MEHAAAA” printed on the glass. The front of the strap has the same patch that Piccolo gave to Goku, while the other side has elements of his childhood outfit.
VEGETA
Vegeta is the prince of the fallen Saiyan race, who is at first cruel and wicked, then discovers a heart of gold after a fight with Goku.
The NEW GENT watch reminds us of Vegeta’s first appearance and the exact moment The NEW GENT watch recalls Vegeta’s first appearance and the exact moment when he realizes that Goku’s combat strength level, as calculated by his scouter, exceeds 9000 units with a representation of Goku’s silhouette on the white dial. The black and white print on the red glass represents Vegeta’s scouter, and the back of the watch displays his giant monkey form.
GENIUS TURTLE
Genius Turtle is a martial arts master, the inventor of the famous kamehameha, often accompanied by his pet talking turtle.
The dial of the NEW GENT watch is inspired by his iconic sunglasses sunglasses, and the back of the watch is inspired by his Aloha shirt.
SHENRON
Shenron is a divine dragon that grants all the wishes of the person who can collect the seven crystal balls (the famous Dragon Balls).
The SHENRON X SWATCH BIG BOLD watch imitates the green dragon’s scale pattern and the back of the watch imitates Shenron’s belly. On the bezel are the words “Make your wish” in Japanese and English, while Shenron’s claws take center stage on the dial, surrounded by the seven crystal balls.
The Swatch X Dragon Ball Z collection is already available in Swatch stores and online. The SHENRON x SWATCH LIMITED EDITION and the SHENRON x SWATCH will not be released until October 1, 2022.
