As PUMA marks its 75th anniversary, the brand is bringing back its legendary mascot, Super PUMA, in a new, carefully curated capsule collection.
This commemorative release pays homage to the fearless green cat that captured the hearts of many in the 1970s through a limited comic book series.
Introduced in the 1970s, Super PUMA was the protagonist of a comic book series produced by PUMA. This fearless green cat quickly became a beloved mascot, synonymous with the brand’s adventurous spirit. In the words of PUMA’s creative director, “Super PUMA embodies the essence of our brand, combining agility, strength, and boldness.”
Drawing inspiration from the mascot’s signature green coat, the 2023 Super PUMA collection features three collectible items designed with an emphasis on craftsmanship and detail. The Super R698 sneaker showcases a fuzzy suede exterior, incorporating Evergreen and Sun Ray Yellow accents on the upper, and a cushioned Trinomic sole unit for ultimate comfort. Additional touches, such as detachable Super PUMA hangtags, custom laces, and unique insoles, demonstrate the brand’s commitment to creating a truly exceptional product.
Accompanying the sneaker, the Super Jacket reinterprets the classic PUMA T7 tracksuit with a retro-collegiate twist. Adorned with special patches depicting the Super PUMA mascot, the jacket also features an interior lining that showcases the iconic character in a repeating pattern.
In collaboration with German toy company Steiff, PUMA has also created a plush toy that brings Super PUMA to life like never before. This limited-edition item serves as a tangible tribute to the brand’s storied history and its cherished mascot.
In February 2023, Super PUMA made its digital debut with a collection of PFP NFTs. Consisting of 10,000 individual tokens, these NFTs feature references to some of PUMA’s most iconic apparel and footwear designs, further solidifying the brand’s legacy in the digital realm.
