Picture this: a seemingly barren television studio, engulfed in an air of mystery, acts as the backdrop for the SUNNEI experience. Enticed by a mystifying voice reverberating messages laced with SUNNEI’s trademark irony and wit, the setting aptly captures the essence of what designers Simone Rizzo and Loris Messina had envisioned. They employ fashion as a powerful medium of expression, shining light on the contemporary world’s paradigms, particularly the omnipresence and omnipotence of media.
This season’s collection was a testament to SUNNEI’s genius. The rapid-paced showcase was intentionally compact with a count of 30 curated looks. By eliminating the excessive and spotlighting their most iconic elements, they amplified the strengths of their brand. From exaggerated volumes named Maxi Over to the sleek silhouettes of the Ultra Stretch category, the spectrum was expansive. The collection featured intricate textural treatments, like repurposed rubber and a consistent emphasis on protective layering. A highlight, undoubtedly, was the dress made of sheer organza layers, each imprinted with the image of a full outfit, creating a mesmerizing illusion.
SUNNEI’s Spring 2024 collection also nodded to its past, with echoes of activewear reminiscent of the ’90s. Graphic dresses painted with SUNNEI’s iconic stripes made their mark, while the introduction of lightweight shirts and a delicate silk dress adorned with crystal embellishments showcased a softer facet of the brand.
