Stray Rats and New Balance continue to expand their partnership and this time, the Miami based label has set its heart on the almost unknown New Balance 580.
Aside from its initial release only in Japan a long time ago and a recent collaboration with PALACE, the New Balance 580 is virtually unheard to the sneaker aficionado crowd. And, this rareness has made it so desirable that the Boston-based outfitter decided to shine more light on this silhouette that was born in 1996 in Japan and introduced to the US market in 2007.
First teased in the summer of 2022, the two new iterations of the NB580 have been officially unveiled. Paying homage to 2007, the year the silhouette made its U.S. market debut, Stray Rats founder Julian Consuegra dressed the model in fluorescent and muted earth tones inspired by 2007 aesthetic conventions.
A mix of blue, green and fuchsia for the first model, while the second is adorned in a combination of burgundy, yellow and purple. The mesh bases are accompanied by suede and leather overlays, and the Stray Rats logos on the shoe add the finishing touch.
