Stephen Jones, one of the most famous high-end headwear of our time, has ventured into a material that is atypical for him: denim, by partnering with denim specialist G-Star RAW to create an exclusive collection of hats.
The Dutch brand gave the British designer – Stephen Jones is world-renowned for designing and working with luxury brands such as DIOR, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Marc Jacobs, Vivienne Westwood and Thom Browne, among others – carte blanche to experiment with different types, colors and thicknesses of denim. The result is an incredible collection of five haute couture denim hat designs. Each exclusive and unique piece shows the craftsmanship of the two collaborators, all created in responsible Cradle to Cradle Certified Gold Kir denim.
The collection is rounded out by two unisex hats, a bob and a baseball cap, in limited edition will be available for purchase on December 1.
“Everybody around the world knows what denim is and what denim signifies. I took denim out of its comfort zone and made it what it wasn’t. G-Star gave me complete carte blanche,” said the designer. Before adding, “extravagant designs are my business, but this time I also wanted to design hats that people can wear on a daily basis – like the bob.”
