Sacha Baron Cohen rumored to join the cast of “Ironheart” to play Mephisto

Rumors are swirling daily on social networks that British actor Sacha Baron Cohen, aka Borat, will be included in the cast of Ironheart, the upcoming Disney + series, as the powerful and evil demon Mephisto.

While reps for both Marvel and Cohen declined to comment on any involvement of the actor in Ironheart or any MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) franchise, the Ali G interpreter has been spotted at the Marvel facilities located at UK’s Pinewood Studios.

Time will tell if the rumors prove true, but if Mephisto’s alter ego is confirmed, it could include the upcoming WandaVision spin-off, Agatha: Coven of Chaos as the King of the Underworld was present (but never shown) in WandaVision, despite several hints of his role in the disorder and WandaVision director Jac Schaeffer’s denial: “He wasn’t ever part of our storytelling conversations. We were very clear that the big bad is grief. And then the external bad is Agatha. So as a viewer and as a lover of the show and the characters, I didn’t want anything more than that.

Created by writer Stan Lee and artist John Buscema, Mephisto is a super-villain and demonic entity that attacks heroes when they’re down and out. Loosely based on the character Mephistopheles, the incarnation of the Devil in the Faust legend, the King of the Underworld can manipulate a ton of different things with his magical skills, including shape-shifting, projecting illusions, or altering time…

Created by Chinaka Hodge, Ironheart will run for six episodes and will star Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, a genius inventor and creator of the most advanced armor since Iron Man. The announced cast also includes Anthony Ramos, Manny Montana, Shakira Barrera, Alden Ehrenreich, Regan Aliyah, Shea Couleé and Zoe Terakes.
