The winds of change are blowing in the Spanish capital, but at Real Madrid, tradition holds its own. For the upcoming 2023/24 season, adidas, the historic partner of Los Blancos, is once again dressing up Real Madrid, but with a minimalist twist to the iconic all-white ensemble that has linked hearts of Madridistas for over a century. The result? A jersey that champions simplicity in design, pays tribute to the club’s rich legacy, and unites the club’s supporters worldwide, from the seasoned die-hard fan to the newest recruit of the Madridista family.
The new 2023/24 home kit showcases a unique blend of classic Madridista culture and contemporary design. At first glance, it’s a stark all-white affair, a nod to the club’s 121-year history, preserving a bond that stretches from the Bernabeu’s echoing terraces to the farthest corners of the globe where its passionate fans reside. The clean, block-colored jersey is gently disrupted by the addition of a yellow and navy layered crew neck flat knit collar, along with a bold navy stripe that traces a vertical path down its flank.
For the first time in the club’s illustrious history, the 2023/24 home kit carries an engraved battle cry, a message that resonates with every Madridista: “¡Hala Madrid!” A simple addition to the collar, yet it embodies the spirit of the club and its fans, a chorus that erupts from the stands every matchday.
In the words of Sam Handy, Vice President of Design for adidas Football, the aim was to gift the fans a jersey that mirrors the elegance of Real Madrid, both on and off the field. “Every design element has a purpose,” Handy says. “The white hue, a constant in Real Madrid kits, is more than a color. It’s an emotive trigger, a powerful connector between the fans and the club. This release truly celebrates that connection.”
Sustainability also finds a central place in this new kit’s narrative. Both the on-field and fan versions are made from 100% recycled materials, with player performance and fan comfort given equal priority. The on-field version comes equipped with adidas’s cutting-edge HEAT.RDY technology, designed to optimize air flow and keep players cool. The fan version features the AEROREADY variant, employing sweat-wicking and absorbent materials to ensure dryness.
The unveiling of the 2023/24 home jersey is marked by a “family photo”, a testament to the inclusive spirit that Real Madrid embodies. It includes not only players from the men’s and women’s football teams but also representatives from its youth academies, its women’s basketball athletes, and members from its Genuine team, who compete in LaLiga Genuine.
For Madridistas itching to own a piece of this history, the wait is over. The 2023/24 kit will debut in the upcoming pre-season tour in the United States. The jersey is now available at Real Madrid stores, selected Adidas retail outlets, and online at adidas Real Madrid kits.
