PUMA and Black Fives Foundation regularly reunite around capsule collections to honor the history of African-Americans in basketball before the NBA. Their latest partnership gave birth to a new capsule, highlighting the lives of athletes off the court as well as the work they did in business, local council and industrial settings, where uniforms were often the standard attire.
Thus, workwear inspired PUMA and Black Fives Foundation’s new collaborative collection, paying tribute to both the courage and self-sacrifice of these basketball fans who, against all odds, in an American society governed by the infamous “separate but equal,” overcame the obstacles in their lives to fight segregation and at the same time indulge their passion for the orange ball.
The thirteen piece collection features vintage inspired designs with authentic logos curated by the Foundation. Included are a bomber, crewneck, hoodie, two pairs of sweatpants, a dress, shorts and two T-shirts. Also included are various pairs of lifestyle and performance shoes such as the iconic PUMA Suede, but also a R698, a TRC Blaze mid and a TRC Blaze Court.
