The PUMA x Sorayama collection marks a momentous occasion that honors both PUMA’s 75th anniversary and the golden jubilee of the iconic PUMA Clyde. Born from the hands of the legendary Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama, every piece is an epitome of design innovation, echoing a signature style that has captivated audiences globally.
“PUMA partners with Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama to release the new PUMA x Sorayama collection,” a fusion where sporty meets sci-fi, grounded in Sorayama’s legacy of surrealistic futurism. Known globally for bringing cold, hard metal to life, Sorayama’s touch transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary. His imaginative depictions of robotics transcend the expected, marking a distinct chapter in the enduring narrative of PUMA’s design evolution.
The collection is a meticulous curation of footwear and apparel, seamlessly merging PUMA’s legacy with Sorayama’s iconic aesthetic. Central to this lineup is the robotic PUMA cat, a special creation that mirrors the artist’s renowned ability to blur boundaries between the animate and inanimate.
Among the standout pieces is the reimagined PUMA Clyde, a silhouette that has graced the fashion stage for five decades. Under Sorayama’s influence, it adopts a metallic silver UV finish, embodying a living, breathing piece of art. The chamois vamp and golden lining are testaments to the impeccable quality that defines the made-in-Japan Clyde Sorayama.
The collection extends its allure to apparel, where the Sukajan Jacket illuminates the artistic journey. “The T7 jacket and graphic Crewneck Sweater are patterned by Sorayama’s early artworks with metallic fabrics,” accentuating visuals of a robotic flying horse and elephant.
Exclusive to the APAC region, PUMA x SORAYAMA collection will be available on PUMA.com, and at selected retailers from October 22, 2023, while the made-in-Japan PUMA x SOYARAMA Clyde is set to launch globally.
