Revealed in September at PUMA’s “Futrograde” show at New York Fashion Week, the PUMA x Dapper Dan capsule collection has been made official and is available exclusively on kith.com and in select Kith stores.
Billed as a tribute to the ’80s hip-hop culture that Dapper Dan pioneered – the same period when PUMA became a streetwear staple. – the collection is a four-piece capsule that also includes a new iteration of the PUMA Clyde to celebrate the sneaker’s 40th anniversary.
“It’s perfect for me to come along at this time to be able to align myself with such a powerful brand that also represents us,” said Dapper Dan. “This is the biggest thing for me since I started making clothes for hip-hop. We are at the crux of a new era: athleisure. When I started out making clothes, I was at the crux of a new musical genre. So this falls right in line with what I represent and what my story is about. So I’m loving it!”
The PUMA x Dapper Dan collection, which will feature multiple drops, includes four themed styles, including a blue velvet tee stamped with Dapper Dan’s “DDP” logo and PUMA’s initials, a tracksuit with co-branded logos adorned with crystals, the T7 tracksuit and a new PUMA Clyde.
The two partners celebrated the 40th anniversary of the iconic PUMA Clyde, with this version combining leather and premium jacquard materials. Other details on the silhouette include a metal plate molded onto its heel tab decorated with the collection’s “DDP” logo, as well as a leather strap embellished with crystal finishes.
