The collision of mastery and innovation materializes every two years at a revered event in the horology universe – Only Watch. This year, the esteemed Perrelet maison marks its esteemed presence with an exclusive timepiece, resonating the harmonious symphony of tradition and futuristic design – the Turbine Chrono Only Watch 2023.
In the heart of Geneva, amongst the quiet ticking of an assembly of the world’s most distinguished timepieces, lies a scene that transforms the world of horology into a playground of innovation and craftsmanship. The timepiece, graced with a shade of light blue, echoes the colors of this esteemed event and marks a prestigious moment for Perrelet.
“I’m profoundly moved to witness the coming together of esteemed watchmaking maisons to support a noble cause,” quotes His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco, under whose patronage the event unfurls.
With roots tracing back to 1777, Perrelet has consistently showcased a flair for reinvention whilst paying homage to its esteemed legacy. The Turbine Chrono Only Watch personifies this spirit, capturing the gaze with its alternating anthracite grey and light blue turbines depicted on the dial. This visual spectacle is accentuated by a central chrono seconds hand, a tachymeter scale on the flange, and the meticulous stitching of the black fabric strap.
A one-of-a-kind marvel, the Turbine Chrono integrates aesthetics with functionality. Beneath the rotating sapphire crystal disc lies a world of precise engineering, revealing minutes recorded with unequivocal clarity. With a press of the pusher at 2 o’clock, time comes alive, unfurling seconds and minutes in harmonious concert.
The display, devoid of conventional chrono counters, introduces a fresh narrative in the world of horology. A spectacle of movement, marked by 12 black anodized aluminium blades and 5 tungsten counterweights, crafts a scene of poetic motion with every wrist movement.
Echoing the architectural genius, the case of the Turbine Chrono Only Watch, forged from grade 2 brushed titanium, nestles comfortably on the wrist. The elegant dance of light and shadow plays across its fluted case band, vertical satin-finished triple lugs, and the prominence of its grooved crown.
“The alliance of tradition and modern innovation reflects the soul of Perrelet,” Luc Pettavino, founder of the event, quotes amidst the anticipation.
The heartbeat of this exquisite creation is the mechanical self-winding movement, calibre P-361. Viewers are treated to the rhythmic dance of its open-worked, rhodium-plated oscillating weight through a sapphire crystal porthole. Adorned with the Perrelet logo and inscribed with “Unique Piece – Only Watch 2023“, it stands as a testament to unparalleled craftsmanship.
As we count the days to the unveiling of the Turbine Chrono at Only Watch 2023, we’re reminded that in the silent ticks and tocks of a Perrelet, lies a universe of innovation, precision, and legacy, awaiting to grace the wrists of those who don’t just value time but hold an affinity for the artistry that narrates it. In the words of Luc Pettavino, president of the Monegasque Association Against Myopathies and founder of the event, “These are not just timepieces, they are artifacts of human ingenuity, precision, and timeless aesthetic.“
