Everything is said in the title “Welcome to Miami“! Presented via a lookbook, Palm Angels‘ Spring/Summer 2023 collection takes a leap to the East Coast of the United States, to Miami, a tourist and leisure city known for its neon signs, exoticism, kitschiness but also where disenchantment is at its greatest and disillusionment reaches its peak.
Embracing the brand’s distinct streetwear codes, Francesco Ragazzi’s new range confidently brings out the acidic palette, a nod to the city, with its pinks, yellows and azure blues. The collection features denim pants, 80s-style denim or leather biker jackets, terrycloth hoodies and casual tracksuits, while the prints support the “Magic City” vocabulary with palm trees, hibiscus and shark motifs galore.
As a passionate photographer, Francesco Ragazzi is also collaborating this season with Getty Images, allowing him to dive into its rich archives to extract a series of vintage photos that help articulate the story of the collection.
“As a passionate photographer – somewhere between committed amateur and semi-pro – Getty Images represents an essence of that passion. That archive, spanning editorial, historic, vintage, everything, is amazing. So I approached them for a collaboration. We wanted to tell part of the story of Miami through their archive images, and it was important to me to maintain those watermarks – as a footprint for the collection,” Ragazzi told Vogue.
