Palm Angels, the streetwear brand owned by New Guards Group, made its highly anticipated runway debut in Paris. Creative Director Francesco Ragazzi unveiled a Palm Angels Fall 2023 collection that mixed Parisian bourgeois style with edgy streetwear, showcasing an aggressive expansion plan for the brand. With Lisa Rinna, Jessica Alba, and Saint Jhn among the famous faces in attendance, it was clear that Palm Angels had arrived.

Ragazzi’s approach to elevating streetwear to the max was evident throughout the collection. With a focus on finding the right materials and hardware, the designer drew inspiration from a private collection of vintage jewelry in L.A. to create a sophisticated yet edgy look that pushed the boundaries of streetwear.

The collection included both men’s and women’s looks, with refined tailoring taking center stage. The double-breasted gold-buttoned blazers paired with streamlined hoodies or hoodie dickies and long lean trousers added an air of sophistication to the collection. Glossy black leather pieces like shirt jackets, bombers, and trousers also looked like luxe wardrobe staples. Eel skin loafers with palm tree-shaped gold hardware added a West Coast prep touch.

The more casual offerings in the collection included supersize shearlings, fun faux furs, colorful puffers patch-worked with hearts, stars, and palm trees, and Juicy Couture-ish velour sets with palm tree embroideries. The collaboration with Tod’s on white Tabs sneakers added a high-end touch to the collection.

The fall collection also charted the beginnings of an evening wear category with minidresses featuring palm tree motifs in devoré velvet or gold-embroidered mesh. The chains for straps and fringed necklaces layered over chiffon scarves and cardigans added a bit of eclecticism to the collection.

Ragazzi’s ability to raise the bar for Palm Angels was evident throughout the show. Although the brand may not set the fashion world on fire just yet, it is ready to hang next to other Made in Italy casual luxury players like Marni, Amiri, and Diesel.

As Palm Angels continues to expand its product offerings, with more women’s items and a planned launch of a unisex fragrance, it is clear that the brand is not content to rest on its laurels. With its successful collaborations with Moncler, Missoni, and Vans, it is only a matter of time before Palm Angels becomes a household name in the fashion industry. The Paris runway debut was just the beginning of what promises to be an exciting journey for this Milan-meets-Los Angeles brand.
