Announced in March 2022 and unveiled at the Tokyo Game Show last September, Bandai Namco’s RPG One Piece Odyssey is scheduled for release on January 13, 2023 on PlayStation, Xbox and Steam.
As its release approaches, Bandai Namco has released an 11-minute trailer, giving us a little more information about the game’s universe as well as its features and mechanics.
One Piece Odyssey is the most complete game the franchise has received, offering us an experience close to the universe created by Eiichiro Oda, who naturally supervised this original scenario himself. It will take us to the cult locations of the manga‘s history, including Waford Island, the city of Alabasta, and Water Seven.

However, this new trailer focuses rather on its unique combat system, based on turn-based, opening a vast field of possibilities as the combinations of characters and techniques are multiple. As a reminder, Luffy’s Straw Hat crew has nine members in One Piece Odyssey.
Thus, each character uses his own advantage in the open world to move the scenario forward. They can also find surprise bonus items specific to their character. Sanji, for example, can find better ingredients for cooking, Nami is able to find abandoned money, Captain Luffy can use the powers of his Demon Fruit to extend his arms and grab distant objects, or Zoro the Pirate Hunter can open iron treasure chests to access the goods inside.
