As we enter the Year of the Water Rabbit in a very short time, a year that promises to be one of hope, prosperity and peace, Nike is delighting sneakerheads with its multitude of versions inspired by the 4th animal of the Chinese zodiac, like this new Nike Dunk Low “Year of the Rabbit”.
This Nike Dunk Low “Year of the Rabbit” features a similar design to the Air Force 1 “Year of The…” model, launched in 2011 and inspired by a traditional milk cream-flavored candy very popular in China. The palette of white, blue and red of the latter, referring to the packaging of the candy, has been repeated on this Nike Dunk Low “Year of the Rabbit”.
Thus, we find a light beige suede base, white leather overlays, blue touches on the laces, the lining, the edge of the tongue and on the inner side Swoosh. As for the red touches, they take place in particular on the heel reinforcement, on which is embroidered a white “Nike” branding, the external side Swoosh, the label of the tongue in imitation fur as well as on the stitches placed on the semi-transparent midsole.
Note that the reference to the rabbit, the fourth animal of the Chinese zodiac, is more explicit on this silhouette. We find it printed in red on the insole or embossed towards the back of the heel.
For the finishing touch, the sneaker features translucent outsoles making the years “2011” and “2023” printed in blue underneath totally visible.
