After more than a year of rumors and speculation, the New Balance 990v6 has finally been confirmed for a November 4th launch worldwide.

Unavoidable is the word that could define the New Balance 990. First appearing in 1982, the silhouette quickly became one of the brand’s best running shoes, ushering in a long list of heirs answering to the name 990v2, 990v3, v4 and 990v5 more recently in 2019. As the Boston-based brand celebrates the model’s 40th anniversary this year, the sixth iteration of the New Balance 990 has just been revealed.

Previewed by Teddy Santis, founder of the Aimé Leon Dore label who was recently appointed as New Balance’s creative director, the New Balance 990v6 takes on a more rounded shape than the previous NB 990s. The sneaker is constructed from a series of mesh and suede overlays, enhanced with 3M reflective accents. The N logo is still visible on the lateral sides, complemented by the number 990 on the heel and tongue.

Its thicker, muscular midsole features FuelCell technology from the running world, again highlighting the increasingly thin line between sport and lifestyle.
