German brand of luxury goods Montblanc is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the hit anime and manga series Naruto with an exclusive collection of Montblanc x Naruto writing instruments and accessories, leather goods and connected watches.
With its roots firmly grounded in writing culture, Montblanc celebrates the art of creative storytelling and the cultural influence of the shōnen manga written and drawn by Masashi Kishimoto through this collection. It emphasizes the importance of knowledge transmission, highlighting the relationship between the young ninja and the hermit Jiraiya, his mentor. Once a great ninja himself, Jiraiya traveled the world in search of knowledge that he eventually passed on to his godson and ultimate student, Naruto. In addition to the carefully printed characters on a black background of a selection of the brand’s items, the pieces feature bold orange accents that evoke brush strokes, ink drops and calligraphy-style symbols associated with the art of writing.
“Naruto is a cultural phenomenon that appeals to all generations because it addresses life’s lessons in a dynamic, compelling and accessible way. One of those lessons is the value that comes from passing on knowledge, a theme closely tied to Montblanc’s heritage in writing and its ongoing mission to inspire each of us to make our mark on the world in a meaningful and purposeful way,” said Nicolas Baretzki, CEO of Montblanc.
The collection includes a sling bag, a shoulder bag, a mini reporter bag, a tote bag and a clutch with a strap. Each piece features a representation of Naruto and/or Jiraiya on black leather, the interior is lined in orange leather and decorated with writing symbols. Small leather goods, meanwhile, include a 3-slot credit card holder, compact wallet, pen case, leather M-buckle belt, keychain and smart accessories including an iPhone 13 case and AirPods case. The Summit 3 Montblanc x Naruto connected watch displaying Naruto animations on the dial is also part of the adventure.
But the highlight of the collection is none other than the new Montblanc Meisterstück edition. The Montblanc x Naruto Meisterstück Special Edition is available as a rollerball, a ballpoint pen or a fountain pen with a ruthenium-plated gold nib adorned with the “Village Hidden by Tree Leaves” symbol in yellow gold. A special orange ink in a glass bottle and a leather notebook featuring Naruto complete the collection of writing instruments.
