Daisuke Obana, the founder of N.HOOLYWOOD, owned a vintage clothing store for many years and had an impressive collection of American fashions.
During the pandemic, he delved into his treasures to study the design of these garments, while searching for new ones in vintage stores in Tokyo. From these studies of the design and materials of these garments from the past, he was able to make new fabrics of similar appearance, using new technology, in order to “keep the feeling of the past, while creating the original fabric with modern technology.” And, it is this meeting of past and present, very obvious in N.HOOLYWOOD’s collections, that was discussed here in this Spring/Summer 2023 collection.
Obana was inspired by classic military elements, vintage American sportswear and traditional Japanese craftsmanship to present a range rooted in classic menswear basics.
Denim coats or jackets, cargo pants with oversized and asymmetrical pockets or trenches with cinched waists, the garments, in monochromatic, natural and pure tones, have wide and fluid cuts, offering a wardrobe full of freshness and timelessness that is suitable for all seasons and occasions.
