The “MSGM Dreamers University” is back, five years after the “University of Causality”. It is a fictional university that celebrates creativity, freedom of expression, and the power of ideas and art in all its forms. It is a school that recognizes happiness as a social, cultural, and artistic responsibility, and encourages students to pursue their dreams.
The collection’s promotion states that “happiness is the way,” and is inspired by the gentle rebellion of youth, as portrayed in the film Dead Poets Society. The collection features mature clothing with clean silhouettes in a palette of optical white and inky black, midnight blue and deep red, baby blue and pink with grey and brown. It includes campus looks such as V-neck jumpers paired with fleece joggers, coats and coach jackets worn over jackets and cardigans, flannel ties and Oxford shirts. Stripes, madras checks, and micro-checks are revisited in a contemporary key, and tailoring is updated with trousers in classic fabrics cut with cargo shapes and large pockets. Formality and informality coexist, with premium fabrics and sophisticated prints, knitwear and shoes sprinkled with glitter, elegant roses and hunting dogs forming patterns.
The collection also features references to the world of American sport, such as quarterback hoodies worn with underwear and leggings, baseball tops and color-block clothes in triacetate, sweatshirts and jackets reminiscent of competition kit, embellished with the autographs of the MSGM team. A curious mascot also pops up on down puffa jackets, sweatshirts, jumpers, and jacquard waistcoats with “deconstructed” argyle motifs, encapsulating the collection’s more light-hearted and playful side.
