In the world of sneakers, collaborations between fashion and sports brands are nothing new. But when a new partnership between Mizuno and Maharishi was announced, sneakerheads were eagerly anticipating what the two brands would bring to the table. And the wait is finally over, as the exclusive edition of the Mizuno ’97 Wave Rider 10 has been unveiled, featuring the signature olive green tones and intricate embroidery patterns typical of Maharishi’s brand identity.
Maharishi, the London-based streetwear label founded by Hardy Blechman, has been making waves in the fashion scene with its unique take on military-inspired clothing. After collaborating with Reebok for a trio of footwear collections, Maharishi was ready to expand its horizons and venture into Mizuno’s catalog.
The partnership marks the first time that Maharishi and Mizuno have worked together, and the result is a perfect blend of two normally opposing forces – the fusion of embroidery and sports technology. The collaboration is centered around the ’97 Wave Rider 10 silhouette, one of Mizuno’s classic shoes that has been given a contemporary spin by Maharishi.
The sneaker features an olive green upper that serves as a canvas for intricate patterns that are typical of the Maharishi brand. The embroidered phoenix on both sides of the shoe is a true testament to the level of craftsmanship and attention to detail that went into the collaboration. Mizuno chose to use premium suede that is certified by the Trusted Path TM program for the construction of the shoe, ensuring that the product meets high ethical standards.
The tongue, heel, and outsole are all co-branded, showcasing the collaboration between Mizuno and Maharishi.
