In the cosmos of horology, there’s a celestial body gleaming with refined elegance and technical virtuosity, bearing the name Longines Flagship Heritage Phase de Lune. As Longines, the venerated brand behind the winged hourglass emblem, reveals its latest creations, we find ourselves gazing not just at an object of fine craftsmanship, but also a testament to the enduring legacy of a cherished collection.
In the narrative of timekeeping, the Flagship models from Longines have always been a testament to timeless elegance. This year, Longines punctuates this narrative with a trio of new timepieces, bestowing upon the venerable Flagship Heritage collection a beguiling moon-phase complication.
Since its dawn in the late 1950s, the Flagship series has fluttered high on the mast of the Longines fleet, symbolizing the brand’s commitment to precision and aesthetic excellence. An embossed caravel on a gold medallion, adorning the screw-down back, serves as the emblem of the Flagship Heritage collection, a gentle nod to the historic traditions of maritime exploration and discovery.
The latest additions to the collection strike a perfect balance between understated elegance and horological sophistication. Housed in a satiny, 38.5mm steel case, the watches are all about harmonious proportions. The design innovation shines through in the case’s shortened chamfered lugs, providing a comfortable fit on the wrist while enhancing its overall aesthetics.
At the heart of these stellar timepieces, the L899.5 self-winding mechanical movement tirelessly ticks away, boasting an astronomical moon-phase complication. The beauty of this function is showcased in a small dial at 6 o’clock, rotating in tandem with the date indicator hand. The watch also embraces the power of silicon in its balance spring, conferring an impressive resistance to magnetic fields and ensuring an unwavering precision for up to 72 hours.
Embellishing the dials are the distinctive domed silhouettes, a tribute to the original 1957 Flagship watch. Three dial options – silvered opaline, sunray silver, and sunray blue – pay homage to the models’ lineage, each accentuated by elongated applied hour markers at 3, 9, and 12 o’clock positions. All hands, depending on the model, are either gilt or silvered, polished, and bathed in Super-LumiNova® for optimum legibility in any lighting conditions.
Elegantly complimenting the dial hues are the newly designed Heritage pin buckle straps. Available in brown, gray, or blue leather, these straps promise not only a perfect fit but also elevate the overall aesthetics of the timepiece.
