For its first steps on the official Paris calendar, KidSuper‘s physical show took on an auction-like feel at the fictional Superby’s auction house, in allusion to Sotheby’s, chaired by the famous Christie’s auctioneer, Lydia Fenet herself.
23 paintings by Colm Dillane (the founder of KidSuper) were presented alongside the 23 KidSuper looks. The sale totaled $529,000, part of which will be donated to foundations supporting young creation. The highest bidder was American rapper Russ, who offered $210,000 for The Girl That Breathes Life Into The Inanimate, the portrait of the woman on the show’s invitation, one of many works he successfully bid on.
Echoing the 23 paintings offered for sale, the collection featured twenty-three silhouettes, directly inspired by the oil paintings up for auction. The transposition of these paintings into clothing was extremely masterful while the silhouettes remained true to the KidSuper aesthetic, with the influence of workwear, loose volumes, patchwork, checkerboard pattern …
