The Spring/Summer 2023 campaign of KENZO is led by Artistic Director Nigo, who brings his timeless vision to a global message that reflects the mentality of the “new generation”. The key values of the House – experience, individuality, and inclusion – are highlighted in the campaign, where the various aspects and optimistic nature of Nigo’s work are personified through an eclectic cast photographed by Jalan and Jibril Durimel, Paulo Sutch in the studio, and Franck Lebon for the video.
Nigo creates a triptych of codes, characters, and locations for the campaign, which brings KENZO’s collections to life. Intercultural and historical codes define the collections, while the characters and locations animate them. The cast includes international celebrities such as skateboarder and musician Lil Dre, singer Nina Utashiro, and models Moses Battiest, Ama Elsesser, Sunmoon Jung, Lily McMenamy, Omar Sesay, Lulu Tenney, and Bomi Youn.
The nautical spirit of the Spring/Summer 2023 collection is symbolized by iconic pieces such as the sailor jacket and beret-shaped hat, as well as workwear and Wavy Check, Micro Pixel, and “dripping” jacquard checkered suits. Outdoor portraits taken in the urban setting of the beach in Los Angeles by photographers Jalan and Jibril Durimel show the protagonists in their favorite environment, while studio portraits and still lifes by Brazilian photographer Paulo Sutch showcase the characters and codes of the campaign.
