JW Anderson, the London-based luxury brand, has taken inspiration from the works of Dutch master Rembrandt for its latest capsule collection.

The collection draws from Rembrandt’s iconic self-portraits, which creative director Jonathan Anderson regards as “the original selfie.” The self-portraits, known for their cross-hatched pen-and-ink style, feature prominently across a range of clothing items including slouchy knitwear, hoodies, bottoms, and silk sets, all in shades of pink and purple. The range is completed by suede and leather tote bags, pre-distressed slip-on sneakers, and a selection of bucket hats and caps.

Anderson is no stranger to collaborating with other creatives and artists, having recently worked with Pol Anglada to capture the essence of queerness, body-building, and nostalgia. With the Rembrandt capsule collection, Anderson aims to pay tribute to the 16th-century artist and his self-portraits, which he sees as a revolutionary moment in art.

The JW Anderson x Rembrandt capsule collection is available online and in the brand’s Soho store in London, inviting customers to interpret Rembrandt’s depictions as real or fictional, objective or subjective. The collection follows the reveal of JW Anderson’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection at London Fashion Week and continues the brand’s commitment to pushing boundaries and exploring new ideas in fashion.
