Chinese smartphone brand HONOR, present at the annual Mobile World Congress, unveils its two high-end smartphones: the HONOR Magic 5 Pro and the HONOR Magic Vs.

The Magic 5 Pro and Magic Vs, a folding phone, were introduced as part of the company’s “Dual Flagship” strategy.

According to George Zhao, CEO of HONOR Device Co, Ltd, “The HONOR Magic5 Pro, our latest flagship, and the HONOR Magic Vs, our first folding model to be launched globally, push the industry boundaries in all areas of user experience, and bring to life our ambition to create a smarter, more intuitive everyday life that is accessible to as many people as possible.

The smartphone industry is facing a difficult situation globally, with a 11.3% decrease in sales last year to 1.21 billion units and a predicted 4% decline expected for 2023.

HONOR, heir to the Huawei empire, has risen to become the second-largest smartphone brand in China and is now seeking a foothold in Europe. The company’s new strategy is to move upmarket to attract a new audience and to boost demand with innovations that meet consumer needs, such as improved autonomy and photos. “HONOR is committed to meeting the real needs of users, adopting a human-centered approach to provide intuitive technology solutions to improve people’s daily lives,” continued George Zhao.

Despite the price of these high-end smartphones, they are becoming increasingly popular as consumers change their phones less frequently and look for better quality models with technical specifications that guarantee performance. In France for example, one in five smartphones sold costs more than €1,000, a price considered sustainable by consumers. To compete with the iPhone 14 and Samsung‘s S23 and Fold, HONOR is bringing in-house developed innovations to the table, including a screen that reduces eye strain and a full-featured camera with a 54-megapixel main sensor.

The HONOR Magic 5 Pro will be available from the second quarter of 2023 in black and green versions starting at €1,199, while the HONOR Magic Vs will be available in black and cyan versions from €1,599 in the first half of the year.
