Issey Miyake continues to push the boundaries of fashion with its latest collection, HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE Fall/Winter 2023. Presented at the Palais de Tokyo during Paris Fashion Week, the collection was a true blend of art and fashion, showcasing the brand’s unique approach to design.
The collection was a masterclass in pleating, with the signature technique being used in a variety of ways to create new and innovative looks. The design team took the sub-brand to the next level by incorporating elements of techwear, resulting in a collection that was both contemporary and timeless.
One of the highlights of the collection were the innovative jackets that featured pop-up, side-to-side, and angular designs. The use of creases and folds added an origami-inspired touch to the collection, while the trench coat was re-imagined in muted hues of gray, featuring oversized pleated materials.
The collection featured a total of 42 looks, each one telling a different part of the HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE story. From geometric patterns on coats to long-line T-shirt dresses, the collection was a testament to the brand’s ability to push the boundaries of fashion.
The show itself was a performance art, featuring dancers moving around the room with light fabrics and shining lights, highlighting the brand’s ability to move with the body. The collection was a true celebration of the late Issey Miyake’s legacy, showcasing the brand’s commitment to innovation and creativity.
