This Sunday, November 6, Aurélien Ducroz, the French skipper from Chamonix, will set off on the Route du Rhum, the famous single-handed transatlantic race organized every four years in France between Saint-Malo and Pointe-à-Pitre, in Guadeloupe, with a new HERBELIN Newport Carbone Titane on his wrist.

Issued in a limited edition of 500 numbered pieces, the chronograph is equipped with a regatta countdown function, the perfect companion to push the limits towards victory.
In harmony with the colors of the Class40 boat of the double freeride ski world champion and Class40 world champion, the HERBELIN Newport Carbone Titane, created in close collaboration with Aurélien Ducroz, is made of a carbon and titanium alloy, reducing the weight of the piece while increasing its resistance to shocks and the ravages of time. Its central attachments, container, crown, pushers, screws and the buckle of its bracelet are also treated with DLC (Diamond like Carbon), which further strengthens its robustness against the tests of time.
Adapting a carbon forging method used in aeronautics, its 46.5 mm case is made of forged carbon. Mounted on a titanium container treated with DLC, it certifies a total waterproofness up to 300 meters. The whole is fixed by five screws, visible on the carbon bezel.
Also in forged carbon, the stamped back of the dial features the map of marine currents of Saint-Malo, the starting city of the Route du Rhum 2022. Harmonized with the stylized hour and minute hands, facetted, black-plated hour markers coated with white luminescent material punctuate a minute track set in groups of five minutes and highlighted by a yellow border. It is completed at 3 o’clock by a double day/date window framed by a thin yellow rectangle.
Created especially for the Route du Rhum, the HERBELIN Newport Carbone Titane is equipped with a counter at 6 o’clock counting times up to 12 hours, an exclusive yellow central second and a regatta countdown function, on a 15-minute basis, materialized in the counter at 12 o’clock.
Triggered at the first shot by pressing the push-button at 2 o’clock, the yellow hand with its white luminescent coating runs through three five-minute zones. three five-minute zones. While the first two display white hour markers, the last one is distinguished by five digits in descending order, alerting the wearer to the imminent start of the race.
In a nod to the Route du Rhum, each of these counters is circled with the GPS coordinates of the race, specified at noon for the departure from Saint-Malo and at 6 am for the arrival in Pointe-à-Pitre.
On the technical side, the watch is equipped with an exclusive automatic movement (Sellita 13 ¼ SW501 BV a), oscillating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and equipped with 25 jewels, as well as an appreciable power reserve of 62 hours.
And finally, the HERBELIN Newport Carbone Titane reveals, through its transparent smoked caseback, a HERBELIN engraved oscillating weight, and the series number X/500 engraved on the caseback.
