Hed Mayner‘s elegant Fall collection was a sartorial masterpiece, full of twists and turns that kept the audience on their toes.
The designer reworked traditional silhouettes to create new, form-fitting garments that were a second skin to the wearer. Some of the most striking pieces in the collection were the gray double-breasted jacket worn over a white, asymmetric oxford shirt, and the highly tailored black tuxedo and long checkered overcoat.
Mayner played with volume, layering and proportion, giving the garments a voluminous feel while still maintaining a classic look. He also experimented with different textures and fabrics, using bonded, washed, cut, pressed or otherwise destroyed textiles to give the clothes an aged look. The designer also incorporated nylon-stocking fabric into hugging shirts, balaclavas, and leggings.
The color codes for his fall collection skewed a bit darker than in seasons past, including hues such as olive green, navy, and brown. This was a nod to the traditional British accent of the fabrics used. The collection was rounded out with something old and something new with the designer’s collaboration with Reebok, revisiting the brand’s Classic Leather model to give it a new shape.
