Back in June, we announced in this post the exclusive collaborative project between G-SHOCK and Marseille-based rapper and singer-songwriter JUL. The ultra-limited edition reinterpretation of the iconic DW-5600 model with G-SHOCK’s famous square case now has a release date and additional images have been revealed, testing the patience of fans for the time being.
The G-SHOCK DW-5600JUL22-1ER x D’or et de Platine (the name of JUL’s production company) will be released in two drops: the first one is available for pre-order now at this address, and the second drop with a wider release at the G-SHOCK Store in Paris and on the G-SHOCK website will take place on Thursday, November 10.
A true fan of G-SHOCK watches, the rapper from Marseille even went so far as to declare his passion for the brand in his album Demain ça ira, released in June 2021, where he sings in one of his tracks “G-SHOCK”: “J’suis en G-SHOCK pas en Rolex” (“I am wearing G-SHOCK, not Rolex“.)
“I’ve wanted to create a GOLD AND PLATINUM watch for a long time. So it was logical to make a collaboration with G-SHOCK. And to please my team, I designed it in the colors of my city, Marseille: yellow for the sun and blue for the sea. I hope you will like the watch and follow you everywhere. Thank you for the strength. We are together,” said JuL.
The G-SHOCK DW-5600JUL22-1ER x D’or et de Platine is a reinterpretation of the iconic DW-5600, born in 1983.
The watch is equipped with a deep black strap featuring the “D’OR ET DE PLATINE” marking in yellow, evoking the sun that reigns over Marseille most of the time. A sky blue, the city’s emblematic color, completes the ensemble. The case is fully customized, with the back engraved with the artist’s label and the UFO in red in the background of the digital display when the light is activated. The case and packaging have also been customized for the occasion with black, yellow and sky blue colors and marked “D’OR ET DE PLATINE“.
And finally, the watch has all the features and functionalities of a G-SHOCK such as shock resistance, a stopwatch and water resistance up to 200 meters!
