Casio‘s famous family of shock-resistant G-SHOCK watches has just been enriched with a new line of watches: the G-SHOCK G-B001 which, in fact, takes the shape of the DW-001 released in 1994, and adds a touch of fantasy with its detachable bezel.
This new G-B001 series inherits the shape of the DW-001 – released in 1994, the DW-001 is also known as “Jason” – which, unlike G-SHOCK with its rough and tough shape, expresses, with its Capsule Tough design concept, strength with a soft shape based on curved surfaces.
With its Capsule Tough design, which completely encased the case in resin to give it a unique shock-resistant structure, the original DW-001 brought a new sensibility in contrast to the conventional rugged and hard designs of the G-SHOCK of the time.
The new G-SHOCK G-B001 takes the design concept of the DW-001 and combines it with a removable bezel that is inspired by “capsule toys.” This removable bezel, when removed, reveals a metal bezel, allowing you to mix and match components to choose the look that best suits your style of the day. The removable resin bezel stays true to the DW-001’s design with its two-tone color scheme, while the velvety, mirror-like finishes on the various metal bezel components offer a more sophisticated look and feel.
And with new technology, the technical features of the new G-SHOCK G-B001 have been improved over the original model. The new watches are in fact equipped with Bluetooth connection to pair with your smartphone, world time adjustable to 38 time zones and compatible with daylight saving time, time switching between local and world time, stopwatch, timer, alarm, automatic calendar as well as an LED backlight.
The series will be launched with three variations. The yellow and gray G-B001MVE-9, with a rainbow ion-plated metal bezel, will also come with a translucent pink and green bezel and a translucent blue strap. The other two models are the G-B001MVA-1 with a black and gray translucent bezel, in metal or urethane, and the G-B001MVB-8 with a black and light gold bezel, again in metal or urethane.
