Elevated Performance and Features

Apple’s chief operating officer, Jeff Williams, expressed his enthusiasm about the release, stating, “This year we’ve made our most rugged and capable Apple Watch even better. Apple Watch Ultra 2 is our most advanced Apple Watch, with great performance and feature updates. It’s perfect for anyone who wants our biggest, brightest display, longest battery life, and best GPS of any Apple Watch, all in a stunning design.

At the heart of the Apple Watch Ultra 2 lies the custom Apple silicon, the all-new S9 SiP, which powers a range of systemwide improvements and new features. It includes a double tap gesture that enables users to control the Apple Watch Ultra 2 using just one hand without touching the display, and on-device Siri with the ability to access and log health data privately and securely. Furthermore, a new 4-core Neural Engine can process machine learning tasks up to twice as fast as the original Apple Watch Ultra.

User-Friendly Double Tap Gesture

The double tap gesture is a game-changing innovation that enhances user experience by allowing convenient one-handed control of the Apple Watch Ultra 2. By tapping the index finger and thumb of their watch hand together twice, users can perform common actions, control the primary button in an app, answer and end phone calls, take photos with the Camera Remote on Apple Watch, and even switch to the new Elevation view in the Compass app.

Brightest Display Ever

The Apple Watch Ultra 2 features a maximum brightness of 3000 nits, making it 50% brighter than the first generation of Apple Watch Ultra and the brightest display Apple has ever designed. This advanced display architecture ensures greater readability in harsh sunlight, and can also lower to just one nit in dark rooms or early mornings to avoid disturbing others.

Adventures Await with Modular Ultra Watch Face

Designed exclusively for the Apple Watch Ultra, the Modular Ultra watch face leverages the large display to present real-time data, including seconds, altitude, or depth, at the outermost edge. It offers the most complications of any Apple digital watch face, making it ideal for sports, outdoor adventures, and water activities.

Unmatched Durability

The Apple Watch Ultra 2 has been rigorously tested for use across a vast range of altitudes, from 500 meters below sea level to 9,000 meters above, making it suitable for exploring the world’s lowest valleys and tallest peaks.

Precision Finding and On-Device Siri

The inclusion of a second-generation Ultra Wideband chip in the S9 SiP enables Precision Finding for the iPhone 15 family. This feature provides distance and direction, as well as visual, haptic, and audio guidance to a misplaced iPhone, even if it is in a different room. Additionally, on-device Siri processing ensures quicker and more reliable responses for requests that do not require internet access.

Innovative watchOS 10

The Apple Watch Ultra 2 runs on watchOS 10, a milestone update that includes redesigned apps, a new Smart Stack to show relevant widgets when needed, delightful new watch faces, and additional tools to support mental health. This update also brings Bluetooth connectivity for power meters, speed sensors, and cadence sensors for cyclists, as well as new topographic maps in the Maps app.

Commitment to Sustainability

As part of Apple’s 2030 plan to be carbon neutral across its entire business, manufacturing supply chain, and product life cycle, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 has significantly reduced emissions from materials, electricity, and transportation. The remaining emissions are offset with high-quality carbon credits from nature-based projects. Additionally, the Alpine Loop or Trail Loop paired with the Apple Watch Ultra 2 features 95% recycled titanium.
