In terms of quality and manufacturing, New Balance is at the forefront, as, with its MADE in USA and UK lines, the brand continues to produce a wide range of models in the U.S. in Boston and the U.K. in Flimby. And, thanks to its Japanese outpost, the brand has raised the bar even higher, shining classics like the 1300 – the “Made in Japan” M1300 JPJ released in 2020 – through the country’s acclaimed craftsmanship. For 2022, the Boston-based firm is taking the same approach with its New Balance 327, taking this classic to a much higher level.
For this new New Balance 327 “Made in Japan”, the Boston firm is teaming up with the M. Lab workshop, already behind the M1300 JPJ “Made in Japan”. Thus, they chose the best Tochigi leather. The soft beige material, whose surface develops a patina over time, has been produced in Japan for over 90 years. This beautiful Tochigi leather covers the entire upper of the shoe, from the toes to the hand-cut medial “N” logos and padded ankle collars in a chocolate brown hue. A “MADE IN JAPAN” label with gold lettering is then sewn onto the tongue, complementing the lighter finish of the laces and midsole.
